Most of Dunwoody went up between the 1960s and the 1980s, which means a lot of painted brick, cedar siding and Masonite board that has already been repainted four or five times. Each repaint adds a film that eventually lets go. Rhino Shield is applied over properly prepared substrate at eight to ten times the thickness of exterior paint, so it seals rather than layers. Homes backing onto the tree cover around Dunwoody Club Forest and Branches see the worst of the mildew, and the coating carries additives specifically to resist it.
