Green Features & Performance Data

We believe that designing and testing are an ongoing process, and we constantly strive to make our products more environmentally friendly. We have achieved quite a bit of success toward that goal. We are now qualified to do lead paint testing and removal, BASF has given our products high durability and longevity ratings, and our products have gotten high marks in fire resistance testing. That means if a fire strikes a home protected by our products, less of it will end up in a landfill.

Green Features & Performance Data

Green Features of Our Atlanta Coatings

Our products have many green features including low VOC (less than 100 grams per liter), non-toxicity, safe for skin contact, approved for solid waste landfill disposable, nonflammable, resists growth of mold and mildew, and the low-e reduces thermal conductivity to insulate buildings better. They have a low enough odor that they aren’t an inhalation hazard, and we are members of the Florida Green Building Coalition. We believe companies should promote environmental consciousness and long-term sustainability, and our products do just that.

Our Products Tested by Outside Companies

BASF Chemical Company and the National Fire Protection Association both performed tests on Rhino Shield to ensure it is a long-lasting and durable product that is better for the environment than its competitors. BASF found out, independently, that our products provided protection and longevity against exposure to heat, cold, and moisture. It performed well against accelerated general weathering and salt tolerance better than most exterior paints. The NFPA tested fire tolerance, giving it a Class A rating. Records of tests are available on request.

Lead Paint Testing and Removal

Rhino Shield by Georgia Coatings has passed all requirements to become certified to test and remove lead-based paint from your home. All homes built before 1978 might have been painted with a lead-based paint, some of which may still be there. Many painting contractors don’t take its removal very seriously, but we aim to detect if there is lead-based paint, then safely get it out of your house for the health and safety of your family.
